Luton Airport Parking:

London Luton Airport was officially opened in 1938 and was owned by the Borough of Luton. But it wasn’t until the late 1970’s that Luton Airport was perceived to be an essential component of the London airport system. It was on the publication of a Government White Paper that preparations were put in place so that the airport could receive five million holidaymakers by the 1990’s. This meant that a new international terminal building would have to be constructed and it was accomplished and opened by HRH The Prince of Wales in 1985.

Between 1992 and 1996 numerous alterations and upgradings were made to Luton Airport. Such improvements included the installation of the Category 3 Instrument Landing System, the expansion and refurbishment of the passenger terminal, a new air traffic control tower, access road, cargo centre and the extension of the car parking facilities.

With a passenger increase of 4.4 million, Civil Aviation Authority statistics showed that Luton Airport had become the quickest rising airport in 1998/1999.
